It’s travelling around the world and sharing experiences that you could never, never ever experience on you own.

“Being a part of the Calgary Girls Choir has allowed me to grow not only as a musician but as a person. It is not an exaggeration that the things I have learned in my 7 years and the things that I was fortunate enough to experience have changed my life….Mrs. Q has been an incredible inspiration, teacher and role model….People may wonder, what it about the choir that has made you stick around so long? What makes it so special? It’s looking out at a crowd of 20,000 people in a mixed choir of over 200 to perform for the Dalai Lama. It’s being able to move people you have never met before, who do not even speak your language to tears. It’s losing you mind over solfa until that moment when you finally get it. It’s the constant presence of backstage juice and cookies at every concert. ALWAYS. It’s travelling around the world and sharing experiences that you could never, never ever experience on you own. It’s being able to hear the way you sound in a cathedral and immediately falling in love. It’s finally hitting that high note, singing in tune or getting through that insanely long phrase on one breath. It’s having someone leave the choir, only to return 3 years later because they just miss it that much. It’s realizing that suddenly, you’re a head taller than Mrs. Q. It’s the silent amazement when you hear a friend sing and you realize how amazing their voice has become. It’s the friendships you make in rehearsal, at camp and on tour and knowing that these will last for a lifetime.”
