Claire Butler

Ms. Butler is from the North-East of England and studied piano at the Royal College of Music, London, with professors John Barstow and Bernard Roberts. At RCM she gained much experience with singers and participated in vocal coaching with distinguished professors Roger Vignoles, Wolfgang Holzmair, Stephen Roberts and Emma Kirby. During her time at RCM, Ms. Butler was awarded distinguished prizes for accompaniment and for her riveting performance of Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1. 

Ms. Butler has enjoyed an extensive and varied music career as a performer, teacher and director. She has held teaching posts in various music schools in England and Bermuda. Now residing in Calgary and in addition to her work with the Calgary Girls Choir, she is music director at St Andrew’s Anglican Church, young singers director at Calgary Boys Choir, Montessori music specialist and enjoys performing with classical/jazz ensemble Clicquot Trio.
