32 of our talented Viva choristers are heading to one of Canada’s most beautiful cities to share their music! They have a busy agenda planned.  After they arrive Thursday evening and get settled into their rooms for a good night’s sleep (!) Viva choristers will load the bus early Friday morning and head to their first performance of the weekend at St. Patrick’s School. This will be followed by an exciting performance at Christ Church Cathedral, one of Victoria’s most beautiful venues. The choir will perform for the Christ Church School students and parents/volunteers as a thank you for their volunteerism and dedication to the school. At CGC we know how vital and amazing our volunteers are and we are so glad to be able to lend our talents to thank volunteers! A note to CGC volunteers: We will be singing for you too! The 11 am Christ Church Cathedral concert is open to the public so please feel free to invite friends and family in Victoria to attend.

It is an important part of touring for our choristers to see and enjoy the sights and sounds of cities and countries they visit so we have several activities planned on Friday to explore Victoria and it’s culture. Weather permitting will walk to Beacon Hill Park to play in the park and explore the beach. We will also spend time exploring the wonders of the Royal BC Museum! That busy afternoon will end with dinner together and an exploration of the Harbour Area. Fun! Who doesn’t love a chance to see and smell the ocean?

Saturday will be spent with our 2 host choirs, the Victoria Children’s Choir (David Stratkauskas, conductor) and the St. Patrick Children’s Choir (Kathleen Seu, conductor). We will meet our new friends and share time singing and learning, eating pizza and sharing a concert at St. John Church. The shared concert from 2-3pm and is open to the public.

A trip to Fisherman’s Wharf and a little shopping and exploring in local shops will round out another busy day!

Sunday we will sing at 10:30 Mass at St. Patrick’s Parish as they celebrate First Communion and Confirmation. We are really happy to be able to be part of these special celebrations!

As we head toward the airport for our departure back to Calgary we will squeeze in one more sight seeing activity at the Butterfly Gardens

When our parents pick up their daughters on Sunday evening they will be meeting some very happy and very tired children. Our Spring tour experiences will have a lasting effect on each and every girl. They will have made new friends and seen new sights. They will have shared laughs and learning together. They will be kinder and more responsible, cooperative, mature and independent. They will have experienced the challenges and rewards of travelling and touring with their choir …and no doubt they will be even better singers too!
